Type of foods: Fish and chips (with a range of fish varieties sourced from southern waters daily), handcut chips, burgers, scallops, prawns, and lots more.
Dine-in option: No.

Ease of access: 5-10 minutes drive from central Queenstown. Not really suitable for walking from town as you need to negotiate a pretty steep road. But great for those staying in Fernhill. A great option if you want to continue out along the Queenstown-Glenorchy road for a picnic.

1) Fergburger - the legend

If you've been to Queenstown, chances are you've had a Fergburger. If not, you know about this famous burger joint where queues line the footpath. Yep, Fergburger is a local icon, and known around the globe for consistent quality, healthy size portions, and as a place to meet new friends. Home to tourists and celebrities, Fergburger is a "must do" if you visit Queenstown.

Fergburger is NOT the only quality burger place in Queenstown. Devil Burger is a great alternative, often without the long queue.

1) Madam Woo

2) Tanoshi Teppan & Sake Bar
There are currently three Tanoshi Japanese Restaurants in Queenstown. According to their website, they offer "fun, back-alley, Osaka style dining". Delicious food, presented over a range of outlets.

Ramen Ramen by Tanoshi
Ramen Ramen allows you to create your own ramen dishes.
Located between Searle Lane and Church Street they are a wonderful choice if you are looking for a quick dine in or takeaway ramen meal.
Tanoshi Five Mile
Tanoshi Five Mile is located in the Five Mile centre out near Queenstown Airport.
This has opened up a whole new demographic to their unique interpretaion of traditional and classic dishes from Hiroshima and Osaka.

Along with the famous Fergburger, "Ferg" also offers Fergbaker (pies, pastries, cakes), Mrs Ferg (delicious gelato and sorbet) and Ferg's Bar (share plates and drinks).
Address: Fergbaker is at 40 Shotover Street, Queenstown 9300 (next to Fergburger).
Type of foods: Bakery goods, pies, pastries, sandwiches, croissants, coffee.
Dine-in option: Mainly takeaway (some casual seating nearby/limited).

Address: Sheds 1 and 2, 3 Sugar Lane, Queenstown Marina, Queenstown 9300.
Type of foods: Coffee, delicious hand crafted pastries, croissants, breads, ice cream and sandwiches.
Dine-in option: Yes, limited indoor and outdoor seating, and all with wonderful views.
Why people love it: Quality food in an amazing setting. A perfect spot for breakfast or a mid-day snack. Also check out their other business, the Boat Shed Cafe.
Ease of access: Wheelchair friendly access. Around 10 minutes drive from central Queenstown. For something different, catch the water taxi out to the marina. Parking at the marina is pay to use and at the time of publication, was $2 per hour.

1) Fat Badgers Pizza Bar Queenstown
Address: 33 Camp Street, Queenstown 9300.
Type of foods: Pizza (various styles/toppings/sizes), with a "create your own" option. A range of sides including salads, poutine, wings, salt and pepper squid and more. They also offer various vegan and gluten free pizza options.
Dine-in option: Yes (small pizza bar vibe), also great for takeaway.

2) Winnies Gourmet Pizza Bar
Address: 7–9 The Mall, central Queenstown 9300.

Dine-in option: Yes (sit-down available and popular), takeaway works well too. It can get very busy here at night so book ahead for dine in. In summer the roof opens up creating a great feeling of space.
Why people love it: A long-running Queenstown staple—people love the hearty pizzas and the warm, classic “holiday in NZ” vibe. Often recommended for groups and easy crowd-pleasing. We usually choose a table out on the small upstairs balcony. Their takeaway menu is extensive.
Ease of access: Extremely central (The Mall). Easy walk from basically anywhere downtown. Order online usually after 4pm. Located upstairs so poor access for those with mobility issues.
