As one of New Zealand's premier tourist hotspots, finding cheap Queenstown accommodation can be difficult.
Waterfront apartments and large hotel chains are scattered throughout the town, and for those with a craving for high end accommodation, luxury lodges like Rosewood Matakauri are a must.
But if you are on a limited budget, it can be difficult to find something to suit, especially at the busier times of the year. The summer months (December to February), New Zealand school holidays, and the ski season (around late June to October) often see prices increase, and many places will be booked out up to 12 months ahead.
So if you don't plan well, you may face a limited choice.
Generally, hostels, holiday parks and campgrounds offer the cheapest options, so we'll concentrate on some of those for you.
